Link cleaner

Links you copy from websites, apps and search results often carry hidden tracking codes that say who you are, where you came from and who shared it. Paste a link here to strip them before you share it.

Nothing is sent anywhere. Links are cleaned locally in your own browser. This site never sees them, and this page tells your browser to block every network request. The tool only edits the text of the link. It does not open it.

Smart mode or strict mode?

Smart mode (the default) is usually what you want. It removes known tracking codes, such as utm_…, fbclid, gclid, igsh and si, and keeps everything the page needs. It also opens redirect wrappers from Google, Facebook, Instagram, Reddit and others, so you share the real destination. Amazon product links are shortened to the product code.

Strict mode chops off everything after the ?. That is fine for most news articles and blog posts, but it breaks links where the part after the ? is the link: a YouTube video (watch?v=…), a search results page, a document ID, or a page in an app. If a cleaned link goes to the wrong place, switch back to smart mode.

What this can and cannot do

It cannot open short links. Links like bit.ly and t.co hide where they go, and finding out means contacting them. Get the full link from the source if you can.
The list of trackers is not complete. Companies invent new ones all the time. If you spot a code that looks like a tracking ID (a long random string in a name like ref, cid or source), test whether the link still works without it.
A clean link does not make you anonymous. The site you visit still sees your address and browser, and it can track you in other ways. See the Online privacy guide.
Sharing the cleaned link keeps you out of the tracking record for that share. It does not change what the page itself contains.
